Zach Propes
Zachary T. Propes is a Gainesville native, lifelong Hall County resident, and currently resides in Gainesville with his wife and daughter. Zach started his career with Hall County Government in 2015 as the Director of Financial Services. After being promoted to Assistant County Administrator in 2019, Zach took the helm as the County Administrator in January 2023.
Zach is actively involved in the Hall County Community through service with numerous organizations, including the Rotary Club of Gainesville Board, where he formerly served as the Rotary Foundation Director and is the current Treasurer. He also serves as the Vice President of the Good News Clinics and was recently appointed to serve on the Board of Directors for the Georgia City-County Managers Association, where he will begin his term on Jan. 1, 2026. Zach’s professional involvement also includes the Georgia Society of CPAs, American Institute of CPAs and Association County Commissioners of Georgia.
Zach holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of North Georgia, where he began his career with Bates, Carter and Company, LLP in Gainesville, specializing in governmental and non-profit accounting, prior to joining Hall County Government. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia Southern University and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in the State of Georgia.
